13 Ways to Manage Stress During Racial Unrest

The murder of George Floyd sparked a massive outrage throughout the country and started a public conversation about the systemic racism that has permeated the United States since being established. The current political and racial climate in our country could be extremely daunting and emotionally draining.

Please remember to:

  1. Allows yourself to feel your feelings.
  2. Connect with individuals that share the same values.
  3. Write your feelings in a journal without any filter and feel free to destroy it after.  
  4. Set firm boundaries with those around you.
  5. Be conscious about what's happening on your social media, and give yourself the permission to delete those who are engaging in spreading uneducated remarks.
  6. Spend time in nature meditating, taking walks or going on hikes.
  7. Get into a routine.
  8. Enjoy “me” time and incorporate self-care.
  9. Exercise.
  10. Eat healthy and be mindful of what you put in your body.  
  11. Limit your caffeine intake.
  12. Drink enough water throughout the day.
  13. And don’t ever forget to BREATH.
