Individual therapy addresses issues relating to life management. The focus is usually on the in-congruence between your internal self and the external world. It also addresses how you manage the people, events and challenges in the “here and now”.
Marital and family problems, parenting, crisis, loss, difficult people, career challenges, and stress are some of the issues that can be addressed in order to gain insight, increase skills and develop strategies for coping and/or strengthening relationships.
Individual therapy is insight-oriented and helps to build bridges between the inner self and the perceived self. It enhances your ability to regulate your emotions, overcome crisis and manage stress.
Intake is the first in-person contact (virtually) that we will have and typically lasts between 75-90 minutes.
It's the process where I have the opportunity to ask you questions to gather information regarding your history, your family dynamic, and the presenting problem.
During this time, you will have a chance to learn more about mental health, emotional distress, and the overall process of therapy. We will work collaboratively to establish a tentative treatment plan.
